BankFile

Privacy

BankFile is built so that we cannot see your financial data. This page explains exactly what happens to information when you use the site.

Your bank files

CSV, QBO, OFX, and QIF files you convert are read and processed by JavaScript running in your browser. They are never transmitted to our servers or to any third party. Converted files are generated in your browser and saved directly to your device. We keep no copy because no copy ever reaches us.

PDF statements

PDF statements are the one exception: reading them requires AI, so the file is sent to our server and passed to Anthropic's Claude API for extraction. It is processed in memory and discarded when your transactions are returned — we never write it to disk and keep no copy. Anthropic processes it under their commercial API terms, which do not permit training on your data. If you prefer that your statement never leave your machine, export CSV from your bank instead — that path is fully local.

Payments

Purchases are processed by Stripe. We receive your email address and payment confirmation from Stripe so we can issue your license and handle refunds. We never see your card number. Stripe's privacy policy governs the checkout page.

What we store

Your license is stored in your own browser's local storage. Our server keeps no user database. Standard web server logs (IP address, page requested) may be retained briefly by our hosting provider, Vercel, for security and reliability.

Cookies and tracking

We set no advertising cookies and run no third-party trackers on the converter.
